With more than 6,000 kids, adults, dogs and a couple of six-foot tall rabbits on hand, Turtle Creek Park looked like Easter Central on Sunday, March 31 for the Turtle Creek Park Conservancy‘s Easter in the Park. And there was something for everyone. Whether it was scrambling for eggs on the western lawn in front of Allman Pavilion, where the bunny posed with families for photos, or the sloping area from Arlington Hall to Turtle Creek Boulevard filled with people waiting for the infamous Pooch Parade, the free afternoon of entertainment was fun and family-friendly.

Highlighting the Pooch Parade were a couple of four-hooved, non-canine types that Turtle Creek Park Conservancy organizers didn’t know would be in the lineup. At one point, a youngster with a bubble gun was blissfully saluting the parade, and the equine parade-crashers were startled by the spray of bubbles. Luckily, the riders stayed settled in their saddles and the horses moved on without an incident.

But the rest of the parade had everything, from Star Wars’ Heather and Joe Cribbins, Ryan Mello, Ed Chen and Marty the Corgi and just plain cute pups to Wilma Wanka’s Jessica Milligan with her Wuncle Wanka Gaberial Rounds and Mighty Mo Milligan.

Needless to say, judges Arun Agarwal, Gracie Dix, Sonya Rose, Dave Mullen and Paul Ridley had their work cut out for them.

Not all the looks of the day were limited to the parade. There were the “Flower Power” gents Tom De Arman, John Frazier, Philip Laffey and Randy Mask and Steve “Pretty in Pink” Kemble, who made such an entrance on the boulevard that Parade Co-Chair Kristin Hallam had him join her in the parade’s lead convertible.

While the post is being hopped up, check out the parade, the scramble and other looks of the day at MySweetCharity Photo Gallery.
